Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • Dual Bibliography List: The submission contains two complete bibliographic lists: the original bibliography and a mandatory, fully transliterated list under the heading "References" (Latin script, using ISO 9984 standard, and indicating the original language).
  • Conflict of Interest Declaration:
    By submitting the article, the author(s) confirm that: They have declared any financial or personal conflict of interest.

Author Guidelines

I. General Policy and Ethical Requirements

The journal "Gulani" is a peer-reviewed, open-access publication. By submitting an article, the author confirms that the manuscript is original, has not been published elsewhere, and is not currently under consideration by any other platform.

  • Journal Scope: "Gulani" publishes original research from the fields of the Humanities and Social Sciences.

  • Language: Articles are accepted in both Georgian and English languages.

  • Plagiarism and Ethics: All submitted articles undergo plagiarism screening via the Turnitin program. The journal strictly adheres to the ethical standards of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).


II. Article Technical Parameters

  • File Format: MS Word (.docx).

  • Length: The maximum length of an article is 9,000 words (including the bibliography).

  • Font: Georgian text – Sylfaen (12pt). English text – Times New Roman (12pt).

  • Spacing: 1.5 lines.

  • Abstract: Maximum 250 words. The abstract must be structured and reflect the research aim, methods, and conclusions.


III. Article Structure

The manuscript must include clearly separated and numbered sections (numbering of subheadings is recommended):

  1. Title (in Georgian and English)

  2. Abstract (in Georgian and English)

  3. Keywords (3–8 phrases, in Georgian and English)

  4. Introduction (Actuality of the problem, objectives, literature review)

  5. Method (Detailed description of the research methodology)

  6. Results (Clear presentation of the data obtained)

  7. Discussion (Interpretation of the results, comparison with other studies)

  8. Conclusions (Summary of the main research findings)

  9. Acknowledgements (If applicable)


IV. Citation and Bibliography Requirements (Chicago 17th Edition)

The journal’s official citation standard is the Chicago Manual of Style (17th Edition, Notes and Bibliography).

  • In-Text Citation: References within the text must be made using Footnotes, in accordance with the style requirements.

  • Bibliography: Sources are presented in the original language (Georgian, English), following the rules of the Chicago Style.

Mandatory Requirement: Transliterated List (References)

For the purpose of international indexing, a separate list titled References must be submitted following the main Bibliography.

  • This list must contain an exact copy of the original bibliography, but fully transliterated into Latin characters.

  • The ISO 9984 standard must be used for transliteration.

  • The original language must be indicated in parentheses: (in Georgian).

1. Data Collection and Usage

The journal "Gulani" is committed to protecting the privacy of its readers and authors. The personal data we collect is used exclusively to facilitate the standard functions of a peer-reviewed scholarly journal.

We collect data for the following purposes:

  • Editorial Process Management: Ensuring communication with authors, reviewers, and editors throughout the manuscript review cycle.

  • Authorship and Content Identification: Informing readers about the article's authorship and publication details.

  • Journal Performance Analysis: Collecting aggregated (general, non-individualized) data on readership behavior and geopolitical elements to aid in the journal's improvement.

  • Informational Notifications: Sending notifications about new issues and special releases only to users who have completed registration.

2. Personal Data Collected

We collect the following categories of data (only in case of registration/submission):

  • Identification Data: Name, surname, academic degree/title, affiliation (organization).

  • Contact Data: Email address, (optional: mailing address, phone number).

  • System Data: IP address, browser type, site activity data (collected via cookies).

3. Data Storage, Security, and Third Parties

  • Data Storage: Your personal data is stored on the university's secure servers and maintained confidentially throughout the journal's publication period.

  • Non-Disclosure: The journal does not sell, rent, or transfer your personal data to third parties, except where required by law, or when necessary to share with the platform developer (OJS) in an anonymous, aggregated form.

  • Author Data: The data of authors of published articles (name, surname, affiliation) is a public record and is used to ensure the transparency of scholarly communication.

4. User Rights (In accordance with GDPR)

As a data subject, you have the following rights:

  • Right of Access: To request a copy of your personal data.

  • Right to Rectification: To request the correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.

  • Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): To request the deletion of your data (if it is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected).

  • Right to Withdraw Consent: To withdraw consent to the processing of your data at any time (e.g., stopping the receipt of newsletters).
