Abstract

The article deals with the relationship between myth and fiction, the study of which is considered a fundamental issue in literary studies and plays an important role in understanding the author's artistic intent. The study of mythology in literary texts allows us to reveal lots of important issues, such as the writer's worldview, ethics or artistic-aesthetic point of view. The article highlights that the study of myth in fiction is a very interesting process but in this respect modernist writing is essencial , as modernism has given a new life and dimension to mythopoetic thinking.
The irreversible process of remitologization has introduced a new life in writing. In addition, it has established a new term -"Literary Mythology" in literature studies. This artistic tool as a skillfully tailored mask has saved Konstantine Gamsakhurdia from physical destruction who in the harsh era of Stalinism, the 30s of the 20th century with a new understanding of the myth dared and hit the power of the Soviet totalitarian system.
It is noted in the work that literary mythology has a multifaceted function in the "The Hand of the Great Master ". Mythical motives, archetypes, biblical allusions serve as the author's artistic intent, as well as modeling of artistic time and space, story and structure, construction of artistic images. The work studies the artistic face of Scorpio, which combines several artistic functions in " The Hand of the Great Master”. 1. It serves the development of Arsakidze's artistic face; 2. It is used as an important element of the structure of the novel; 3. It expresses the author's attitude towards the contemporary epoch, in particular, presents the author's worldview confrontation with the Soviet totalitarian regime
The study has shown that Konstantine Gamsakhurdia, early in 1927-28, opposed the Soviet era with having created the artistic face of Scorpio (the novel "Taboo"). The "red-haired man , dressed in black chokha” in the novel is the artistic face of Satan, Scorpio, and somehow evokes the allusion to the Soviet totalitarian regime. This artistic face was successfully used by Konstantine Gamsakhurdia during the Stalin era. In the novel “The Hand of the Great Master " (written in 1937-38), Scorpio itself symbolizes the Soviet totalitarian system and is organically linked to the question of the eternity of the artist and art. The builder of Svetitskhoveli is greeted by fiery scorpions. Fiery as well as red is the colour of the October Socialist Revolution, the colour of the Soviet era. Here are the events of the totalitarian regime of the 1930s: unjustly shot people- writers, poets, directors, artistic directors ..,that is an amazing example of the writer's worldview confrontation with the Soviet reality.
